The Danish Method. Copenhagen Factory Porcelain from the Russian Royal Family Collection

Aseyev's Mansion. 22/1 Naberezhnaya St. Until 10 October 2016

Romanovs were very avid collectors of Danish porcelain, and there's an easy explanation for that. The mother of the last Russian tsar Nicholas II was a Danish Princess Dagmar. When she married Alexander III, she brought her personal collection from Copenhagen to St Petersburg, and continued to order new items while living in Russia. The bespoke porcelain presented at the exhibition was once given as presents to her family and friends. There're vases and porcelain figures which once stood in Dagmar's room in Peterhof, dishes from which Romanov's family dined, Nicholas II's porcelain ashtray and many other items. Today, the collection belongs to the Peterhof Museum and it's fot the first time that it's leaving the walls of this museum to be displayed in Tambov. The exhibition can only be visited on a guided tour in Russian. No need to sign up, just show up during the working hours and you'll be assigned a guide to the exhibition.
