TO DO
THE FURRY CAFE
МЕХОВОЕ КАФЕ

About
An amazing coworking space with two dozen of lovely cats who came from a local shelter. There're two rooms with loads of sofas, armchairs, cushions and even a hammock to slouch in. There's free WiFi if you decide to come to work here on your laptop (which is actually a good idea because the place is really quiet), there're various board games and books to keep you busy. But most importantly, there're playful and curious cats who have a whole network of desks and shelves under the ceiling and all around the room to climb on and watch you from above. You can buy cat treats at the reception, or get tea or coffee, milkshake, cocoa, doughnuts, cakes and ice-cream for yourself.

TSIOLKOVSKY LOFT
ЛОФТ ЦИОЛКОВСКИЙ

About
A spacious loft in a 19th-century building is hiding in a quiet courtyard just off the bustling Teatralnaya Street. A few years ago it was converted into a coworking space and time cafe and named after the most famous inhabitant of Kaluga, the rocket engineer Konstantin Tsiolkovsky. If you don't know what to do in Kaluga, go to Tsiolkovsky Loft, there's always something going on there. They organise lectures and workshops, concerts and exhibitions of local artists. Besides, they have a truly impressive collection of board games (no wonder, since there's a board game shop downstairs) and books. It's a great place to socialise and meet locals who come here to work, play or just chat with friends while sipping tea of coffee (both are free, as well as the biscuits).

KALUGA PLANETARIUM
КАЛУЖСКИЙ ПЛАНЕТАРИЙ

About
Considering the role of Kaluga (or its inhabitant, Konstantin Tsiolkovsky in particular), it is no wonder that its planetarium is one of the most visited place in town. Located right inside the Museum of the History of Cosmonautics, it has several shows about the exploration of the Universe, the Space disasters, the Sun, the secrets of the sky, and the journey from the Earth to the Universe. All shows are in Russian but it's still worth a go since there isn't much talking anyway. The tickets to the planetarium can be purchased at the ticket office of the museum. Given the size of the museum, it might be a good idea to break up you visit to the museum with a show at the planetarium.
