Izborsk has very few places to eat. There're two restaurants in the hotels and also a pancake café. In summer, old ladies sell fruits and berries from their gardens and homemade pastries on a small square next to the museums.
Izborsk Hotel Complex Restaurant (Ресторан при Гостиничном Комплексе "Изборск")
Probably the best place to eat in Izborsk. The portions and generous and food is tasty and varied. They serve traditional Russian dishes with local influences (Tumbleweed absolutely loved their buckwheat porridge with cream and girolle mushrooms served in a pot. There're also some recipes from Seto people.

Best for: lunch/dinner/snack
Specialities: Try their house special chicken stuffed with apples, сranberries, honey and berry sauce. Pickled mushrooms from local forest served with sour cream are also great. For something more unusual, how about traditional Russian fish soup (known as 'ukha') cooked with vodka? If not, then go for ostrich soup or ostrich dumplings (meat comes from the local ostrich farm).
Tips: note that they only serve breakfast for the guests of the hotel.
