TO EAT
TUNDRA GRILL & BAR
ТУНДРА

About
The best new restarurant in Murmansk which singlehandedly created the tundra cuisine. The menu is just beautiful, you'd probably want to order everything they have right away. It starts with a section called 'Made in Arctic' which includes various specialties from the region. In fact, most of the ingredients are local, coming from the nearby tundra farmsteads. Besides, all dishes are beautifully decorated with pebbles, shells, logs, coals and moss. Imagine that you went camping in the tundra for several days. You sit by the fire, and eat a tinned reindeer meet, cook your fish soup and bake your bread over a campfire. So don't be surprised if your dish comes in an open tin or in a campfire cookware. The combinations may sound strange, but don't hesitate to try them, everything they serve is truly delicious.
The restaurant is located on a hill in the centre of Murmansk, next to the cinema 'Murmansk', and opposite a café called 'Yunost'. The easiest way to get there from the central Lenina St. is to turn to Karl Marx St. at the crossing where the Local Lore Museum is located, and climb up the street for 10-15min until you get to Polyarnye Zori St. The restaurant doesn't accept reservations, so just show up, they usually have tables available.

ЦАРСКАЯ ОХОТА

About
One of the best upscale restaurants in town, Tsarskaya Okhota has been around since 2000. After 15 years in service, it's still a signature place in town where locals (especially people over 40) would go to celebrate their birthdays, weddings, etc. The place looks like a luxurious hunter's lodge with stuffed bears and wolves, and skins of various local animals on the walls. The menu is huge, and includes Russian dishes with a northern twist, and a signature menu by a celebrated chef Maksim Syrnikov who is known for rediscovering and recreating traditional Russian cuisine.
The restaurant is located in the southern part of Murmansk, on one of the city's throughways. It's around 5km from the centre, and can be reached by taxi or bus. Book table in advance, especially on weekends.

WHITE RABBIT
БЕЛЫЙ КРОЛИК

About
White Rabbit is a combination of a coffeeshop, a bakery, a patisserie, and a restaurant. For a snack and a cup of coffee, enter through the left entrance which leads to a small café where you can buy various pastry and cakes for takeaway, or have them with a cup of tea of coffee at one of the tables by the window. The right entrance (or the passage from the café) leads to a more upscale restaurant with two spacious rooms. White Rabbit is one of the few places in town which serves hearty and varied breakfast. Don't miss the passage between the café and the restaurant, it's where Matilda lives in here own two-storey house. Matilda is the white rabbit who gave name to the restaurant (or the other way around), she can be shy or whimsical at times, but she won't mind if you open the doors of her house and say hi.
