There're several options of accommodation in Izborsk but Tumbleweed particularly liked Izborsk Hotel Complex. It's close both to the museums and the fortress and to the bus station and it has a good restaurant, a souvenir shop with great variety of local ceramics, gingerbread, honey, etc. And it also has a bike rental and a sauna. The rooms are small but bright and cozy.
There's a restaurant in the building adjacent to the hotel. They serve traditional Russian food, and do it well. Try their excellent buckwheat porridge with cream and girolle mushrooms.

If you arrive by bus from Pskov or Pechory, walk from the bus station towards the motorway, cross it and continue walking straight, leaving the bus station behind your back. As you cross the motorway, you'll see the large signboard saying 'Izborsk' and then a post office to your left. The large hotel complex is just a bit further down this street and is very hard to miss.

Basic breakfast is included in the rate. It is served in the hotel restaurant from 8am until 11am.
Rooms: there's a great variety of rooms. Some are brighter, other are gloomier. Ask for a room overlooking the main street, they tend to be brighter. Single rooms are located in the mansard, doubles and twins are on the 1st floor.
