У ПОКРОВКИ

About

There’s a nice restaurant on the premises. They serve good-value lunch sets and à la carte dinners using local ingredients.

Info

17 Voevody Shuiskogo St. (ул. Воеводы Шуйского, д. 17)

It’s a good 25-30min walk from the train station. Walk out of the train station, you’ll see the church in front of you. The street you need is behind this church. The safest option is to go left where the buses stop and then turn right and cross there on a pedestrian crossing. Otherwise, you can take a bus (the bus stops are located on the square outside the railway station, turn right as you exit the station), and get off at Kuznetsova St.

Breakfast is ncluded in the price. It is served in the dining room on the ground floor from 8.30 until 11am. Choose the night before and let them know what time you want it. The breakfast is hearty and tasteful, it includes eggs and porridge, yoghurt, salad, toasts and a hot drink.

Rooms: there’re only 4 rooms in this guest house. Opt for room #3 which overlooks the river and churches on its other bank. Your second best choice would be room #2 which has side-view over the river.

DVOR PODZNOEVA

ДВОР ПОДЗНОЕВА

About

One restaurant is located on the ground floor of the hotel, but it is mainly used for breakfast and all sorts of events. 'Dvor Podznoeva' occupies a whole block, and there're several other restaurants on its territory. Choose between the exuberant 'Trapeznye Palaty' serving traditional Russian dishes in medieval Russian chambers, beer house 'Pivnye palaty' which is less fancy but serving equally good food, cozy coffee house 'Kofeinye Palaty', self-service pie house 'Pirogovye Palaty' serving traditional Russian pies with various fillings, and, finally, there's a wine bar ''Vinnye palaty.'

There's also a so-called  'business hotel'  located in a new building on the territory of 'Dvor Podznoeva,' the rooms are cheaper and more basic there. When you  book a room at the hotel website, they have an online auction where you can name your price, and the hotel managers will reply to you whether they're ready to offer you a room for this price (they'd normally give you 5-10% discount).

Info

Breakfast is included in the price. The breakfast is served in the restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel. It is a self-service buffet, and there's a lot to choose from.

Rooms: there're 50 rooms in the hotel. Most of the rooms have unique decorations, but we really liked all of them. Ask for a room overlooking the courtyard of 'Dvor Podznoeva,' it is cozy and quiet, surrounded by beautiful 17th-century houses.

About

One restaurant is located on the ground floor of the hotel, but it is mainly used for breakfast and all sorts of events. There's also a bar called 'Rublev' which looks more like a chapel than a bar (think of an arched ceiling, dim lights, and frescoes on the walls). It mainly serves traditional Russian food. There's also a wine bar called 'Wine cellar', it is indeed located in the historical cellars underground which may feel a bit muggy but has a really great ambience
