THE CHESHIRE CAT HOSTEL

ХОСТЕЛ "ЧЕШИРСКИЙ КОТ"

About

This wonderful hostel opened in the end of summer 2015 in a lively neighbourhood around the Sochi railway station. The lack of hostels in Sochi is still very noticeable, and this lovely place is an exception, which, hopefully, will set the bar for future enterprises. The Cheshire Cat occupies half of the floor in a grand Neoclassical building with columns and balconies. The name of the hostel comes from the painting of Alice and the Cheshire Cat which now decorates the common room. The place is cozy and impeccably clean, with big rooms, high ceilings, and nice views over the river from the window. Each bed has a private curtain, and a shelf by the pillow for all your valuables. You also get a basket underneath your bed, and a locker for your luggage. But it's the staff that make this place truly great. They speak English, and they're eager to help you with anything, and suggest you where to go for a drink, or how to get to the Olympic Park. Luckily, many of the restaurants and bars are located within 5-10min walk from the place, and the train station is only two blocks away.

Call them up if you arrive after 8pm, someone will come to open you the door.  The hostel is open 24h, but the office building where it's located shuts at 8pm (occasionally, it might stay open until 8.30-45pm so that all the office staff have enough time to leave).

About

Chemodan is a former hostel which has been recently revamped, and reopened as an art hotel with only 4 rooms. There're three double rooms, and once quadruple room with one double, and one bunk bed. Although the hotel is very basic, it's conveniently located close to Kurortny Avenue, the Arboretum, and the sea, and has a fresh and well-designed rooms which is still rare in Sochi. Each room has a fridge, tea making facilities, dishes and cutlery. Besides, the manager Alexander speaks English, and is eager to help the guests with anything.

Brekfast is not included but there's a canteen in the building where you can get a Soviet-style breakfast. Alternatively, you can buy food in a supermarket across the road.
