KUPTSOV DOM
КУПЦОВ ДОМ

About
This cozy two-storey house with a courtyard, and heavy cast iron gates looks like a quitessence of Yaroslavl. The hotel is located on a quiet street in the centre of Yaroslavl, right in front of the Kazan Monastery, and a stone's through from the Volkov Theatre. The house was built in the beginning of the 19th century, and belonged to various families of merchants of over a century, hence the name ('kuptsov dom' means 'a merchant's house' in Russian). The rooms are bright and cozy, and some have excellent views over Trefoleva Street. And the location can hardly be better, it's in the historical centre of Yaroslavl, and in a walking distance to all its key sights.

Hot buffet breakfast is included in the rate. The breakfast room is in the basement of the building. They serve porridge, eggs, pancakes, cheese, fruits, tea and coffee.
Rooms: there're 20 rooms in hotel, all of them are doubles. The cheapest ones are those on the half-storey with a sloped ceiling. These rooms are less spacious, and are usually gloomy in the winter when the snow covers the attic windows. There's also a two-room suite located on the top floor with slanted roof as well but more space than other rooms on that floor. Standard rooms are located on the ground, and the first floor of the hotel. The best ones are those overlooking Trefoleva St., they have 3 windows, and, therefore, more light.
IOANN VASILIEVICH CINEMA CLUB & HOTEL
СИНЕМА КЛУБ И ОТЕЛЬ ИОАНН ВАСИЛЬЕВИЧ

About
Ioann Vasilievich is probably the best known restaurant in Yaroslavl, having been around for 5 years now. It's a rare example in Russia of a thoughtfully themed hotel which could only appear in Yaroslavl considering its popularity as a shooting location for Soviet and Russian films. Although it's called 'cinema club' there's no cinema in the hotel. Thea idea that each room is themed to look like a set of a certain film, and you have a DVD disk with this film in your room and can watch it. They've only chosen the film that were made in Yaroslavl or other towns in the region, so you can watch and maybe recognise some places you've been to.
There's also a popular restaurant on the ground floor serving Russian food in medieval Russian interiors. The interiors are themed, some of the rooms were designed to look like a medieval Russian palace in the times of Ivan the Terrible, other have Soviet interiors. The reason for that is that the whole place is themed around a popular Soviet comedy called 'Ioann Vasilievich: Back to the Future' where a Soviet scientist invents a time machine and travels back to the times of Ivan the Terrible while transferring the tsar himself to the Soviet era. So the 'Soviet rooms' in the restaurant are not accidental either. Go to out To Eat page for more information and suggestions.

Cooked breakfast is included in the rate. They have two sets, and you need to choose one and tell the reception about your choice and time when you want it the night before. The menu can be found at the reception and in your room. Each set has two hot options (porridge, omelette, cottage cheese pancakes or regular pancakes, yoghurt, and tea or coffee).
Rooms: there're 27 rooms in this hotel, each room has a unique design and a theme. The theme is a Soviet or Russian film which was made in Yaroslavl region. You'll find a DVD disk with a film that the room is called after in your room. Sadly, most of them are in Russian only, and don't have English subtitles. Some rooms are really cozy and well-designed, while others are just to kitschy and weird. There're many categories of the rooms, from small single rooms to spacious apartments (which are, in fact, just spacious double rooms with a sitting area). The so-called apartment are the coziest. '12 Chairs' is one of their best rooms, with great design, and excellent views of the Mikhaylo-Arkhangelsky Cathedral. 'Kin-Dza-Dza' is also a cool sci-fi-themed room. 'Ioann Vasilievich Palace' has kitschy medieval Russian designs, while 'Yaroslav' has a bearskin on the wools and is designed to look like a traditional Russian wooden hut. It's best to specify which room you like in your booking, or ask them to show you available rooms when you arrive.
