About
A pale blue mansion in a German Art Nouveau style was built in 1914 close to what was then known as Königsberg Tiergarten. The zoo is still there, as well as the mansion which was lucky to survive two World Wars. The mansion now houses a romantic boutique hotel Tchaikovsky. Although Tchaikovsky never visited Königsberg, the street where the mansion is situated bears his name.
The design of the hotel takes us back to the golden era of travel. Antique leather suitcases are piled around the beds to form bedside tables. Mirrors are made from vintage wardrobes, spacious designer bathtubs remind of an era when shower cabins had not yet been invented. Music instruments and ballet-themed decorations seamlessly complement the dreamy air of the place.

Rooms: 21 rooms. Singles, Doubles, Junior Suites, and Suites. Avoid room on the ground floor, it gets rather noisy because of its location opposite the restaurant.

About
A superb new hostel close to the centre of Kaliningrad, KoikaGo was opened by a group of local interior designers. Unlike most of hostels in Russia which are stocked with the same IKEA furniture and decorations, each room in KoikaGo is unique, meticulously designed by a team of interior designers/owners. All rooms are named after various cities and regions. There're Stockholm and Helsinki dorms, both with cozy cabin-like beds, a minimalist Tokyo, a bucolic Provence, a flamboyant Mexico, a bright Manhattan studio, and a pompous Georgian-era London flat.
The spacious lounge with a dining space is the heart of the hostel where everything is happening, and if you're not in the mood to meet new people, you can always escape to a quiet computer room nearby. Overall, the place is a great alternative to a budget hotel since it has a good range of rooms from dorms to ensuite double rooms and family rooms with kitchenettes.

Breakfast: they serve hot breakfast with porridge, fried eggs or Russian pancakes for extra ₽170.
Rooms: there're 7 rooms overall, 2 dorms (Stockholm and Helsinki). Stockholm is bigger but comes with private bathroom. Each bunk has private light, a curtain, a space for luggage, and a locker. Provence is a private room with double bed and a sofa. Tokyo room has a double bed, a fridge, a private shower and shared toilet. Mexico has 2 double beds and private bathroom. Manhattan comes with 3 double beds, ensuite bathroom, and a kitchenette. Ensuite London has one double bed and one bunk bed.
