Yuri Peresada Ceramics
Yuri Peresada is probably the most celebrated ceramist in Pskov Region. He moved from Moscow to Pechory over 10 years ago, and has been experimenting with various techonologies of ceramics manufacture ever since. He has developed his own technology of glazed ceramics using natural ingredients which has become his signature feature. His beautiful mugs, cups, plates and jars are sold in souvenir shops at the Pskov Kremlin, in Izborsk Hotel Complex, in Pechory-Park Hotel, and in souvenir shops on the way to Pskovo-Pechorsy Monastery in Pechory. Peresada also makes beautiful glazed tiles which decorate several churches in Pskov region, and rooms in U Pokrovky Guesthouse in Pskov. If you think of bringing a souvenir, we particularly recommend his potbelly mugs with ancient symbols of Pskov.
Seto knits
Seto is an ethnic minority which has been living in Pskov region and southeastern Estonia for many centuries. They are mostly Orthodox Christians but managed to preserve their own language and traditions. Setos are known for their beautiful ornaments which they reproduce on their traditional clothes, and also on their knits. The latter are soft, and come in many colours. Those thick wool mittens, socks and stockings will be ideal for Russian winter, and are a really good present to bring home. The knits and other Seto-related items can be found in souvenir shop on the road leading to Pskovo-Pechersky Monastery.
